Black Walnut has burly grain patterns which give this wood an exotic appearance and is usually finished in its natural rich, brown color. Over the years the wood develops a lustrous patina. Dark and rich the American Black Walnut is made for luxury. Black Walnut is available in a low-sheen finish to enhance its natural beauty.

Superior Flooring by HSL WILL NOT warranty these products unless the products are kept at a relative humidity of 35% to 50% before and after installation. These products do NOT need to be acclimatized to their environment.

Colour

Walnut is a dark, tawny brown for the heartwood, while the sapwood is very light, greyish white. Due to its variety in color shadings, walnut is usually finished in its natural rich, brown color. Over the years the wood develops a lustrous patina.

Grain

Walnut is a hard wood with an open-grain and fine texture. There is the occasional burly pattern if the wood has been cut close to a limb giving walnut an exotic appearance and appeal. Black walnut, is noted for its beautiful grain character, and produces more variation than any other specie, creating a beautiful unique looking floor.

Stability

Walnut is one of the most stable, thus a particularly good choice in environments where humidity is not as well controlled as you might like.

Hardness

Walnut ranks 1,010 on the Janka hardness scale. A satin finish or low sheen is often preferred, making the eventual dings and dents of normal living somewhat less noticeable. When Walnut is damaged, the defect doesn’t show up much due to the dark color of the wood and its dense texture.
